Field School staff instruct hands-on open-enrollment environmental field training courses on a variety of subject areas of utmost concern to the working environmental professional. Our highly regarded open-enrollment field courses are held in the Spring in Las Cruces, NM - a very popular destination with our students, where we have established field sites.  Our current course catalog includes the following field courses (some courses may not be taught every year):

The Environmental Sampling Course

The Complete Ground-Water Monitoring Course

The Complete Ground-Water Sampling Course

The Complete Soil Sampling Course

The Complete Surface Water & Sediment Sampling Course

The Complete Ground-Water Monitoring Well Design, Construction & Development Course

This is an intensive one-day course on the U.S. EPA-approved

gws3
Students learn how to successfully deploy a PDBS in a ground-water monitoring well used for no-purge sampling during a field session
lowflow
In this course, students learn the correct way to implement low-flow purging and sampling using both a dedicated pump and, as seen here, a portable pump.

purging and sampling procedure referred to as low-flow purging, low-stress purging, Micropurging or minimal drawdown purging, AND the new methodology referred to as No-Purge or Passive Sampling. This field course explains why and how low-flow procedures and no-purge sampling produce dramatically improved and more consistent sampling results and significant cost savings. Students learn what low-flow purging and no-purge sampling are; what types of sampling equipment are compatible with low-flow purging and no-purge sampling; what critical parameters must be measured in the field; how to determine if low-flow purging or no-purge sampling will work for a specific site; and the economics of low-flow purging and no-purge sampling. A 2-hour field session allows students to apply all of the techniques involved in low-flow purging and no-purge sampling.
